Churchill's G III River City Handicap RESULTS

Churchill Nov 22 River City H.
(System's # Range 5 - 11.5)

Rating
(10.5) Karelian ($6.80)
(8.5) Demarcation ($33.40)
(5) Telling

Karlien (2nd highest rating) and Demarcation dead-heated in Saturday's feature. Favorite Thorn Song's wide journey left the $100,000 feature up for grabs.

Karlien went off at a little over 5-1 and Demarcation was 33-1. Due to the dead heat, both win prices were split in half.

Telling got up to complete the triples at 21-1.

Pedigree Angles To Watch: Sunday Nov 23 Aqueduct

Aqueduct Sunday Race 6 Maiden Special Weight 1 mile dirt

Treasure Trail(Pulpit) is out of Vertigineux, who produced Zenyatta. Yes, that Zenyatta. The 9-for-9 filly's younger sister is making her second career start at Aqueduct on Sunday.

In her first start, Treasure Trail was off a bit slowly and finished a decent fourth traveling 6 furs at Belmont. Trainer Shug McGaughey isn't known for his first time starters, so expect Treasure Trail to improve.

Along with the unbeatable Zenyatta, Vertigineux also produced the millionaire GI-winning filly Balance. Being Vertigineux knows a thing or two about dropping a nice filly, pay attention to Treasure Trail in the paddock and on the tote.

Saturday November 22, Churchill's River City Handicap GIII 100k

System's Ratings for River City Handicap @ Churchill Downs

Thorn Song- 11.5
Karelian- 10.5
Steve's Double- 9.38
Canela- 8.75
Demarcation-8.5
Mr. Sidney- 8.25
Star Plus- 7.5
Yate's Black Cat- 7.25
Just As Well- 7
Telling- 5
Pleasant Strike- 5

This is a cool race. Thorn Song will be the favorite. He shows up, very honest. Look at his form. He likes the lead, I would'nt say he needs it, but he'd rather be there. If he is going to get out in front, he's going to have to do from the outside 11 slot.

Try to find some value in this race. Although the highest rating, Thorn Song faces some obstacles.

Longshot Chance?
I spoke to Jonathan Sheppard this summer about Just As Well, and the master-trainer mentioned the 5-year-old was a half brother to an undefeated filly in Europe, by the name of Rainbow View. Rainbow View, now 4-for-4, may be the best 2-year-0ld of any sex in the WORLD. Yeah, world.

Even though he has a famous sister, Just As Well will have to improve to win Saturday.

Results of Churchill's Cardinal Handicap & Aqueduct's Four Bases Stakes

Churchill Nov 15 : Cardinal Handicap
(System #'s Range 4-11)

(9.5) Indescribable ($15.40)
(9) Long Approach
(11) Kiss With A Twist
(11) Callwood Dancer

In a wide open race, Indescribable was worth a look with a 9.5 rating. Mott trying the turf with an underachieving horse is always something to circle. Indsecribable (T-3rd highest rating) blazed down the Churchill course to win coming from way off-the-pace.

Aqueduct Nov 19: Four Bases Stakes
(System's # Range 5.5-10)

(9.5) Buddy's Humor ($12.60)
(8.5) Pick Six
(10) Nergal
(9) Operation Red Dawn

I hope you followed the system here. The system's second highest rating went to the eventual winner Buddy's Humor. Just .5 behind highest rated Nergal, Buddy's Humor went straight to the front and wired this bunch, to score at a healthy $12.60.

Aqueduct Wednesday: Four Bases Stakes 65k

Wednesday's Aqueduct feature, the eighth race 1 1/16 turf Four Bases Stakes:

(Horse-System's Rating...Higher the # the better)

Nergal- 10
Buddy's Humor- 9.5
Prince Rahy- 9.5
Operation Red Dawn- 9
Al Basha- 8.5
Pick Six- 8.5
Hotstufanthansome- 8.5
Gimme Credit- 8
Sensational Humor- 6
Formal King- 5.5

Christophe Clement's Nergal earns the only double digit number in the two-turn turf contest. Ramon Dominguez hops on for the third time, the two won an optional claimer together in June at Delaware.

Greetings from Florida! I figured to give Aqueduct players some attention since the weather in New York has been suspect, and it's just about THAT time at the Big A. Snow flurries have already taken the place of the falling leaves. Let's hope this one stays on the grass. There is some value to be had.

Pedigree Angle RESULTS From The Week

WIN- Submerge ($4.90)
2nd- Million Seller
WIN- South Fork Lodge ($15.40)
5th- Class Firt

Submerge (Fusaichi Pegasus) graduated as a hand-ridden 2 1/2 lengths winner at Aqueduct.

South Fork Lodge (Runaway Groom) wore down rivals to live up to his classy bloodlines and graduated.

Million Seller (A.P Indy) looks like she may be a grinder, typical A.P Indy, and should continue to improve with added distance.

Class Firt (Pleasantly Perfect) bumped at the start and raced 5 wide. Better racing luck next time.

Churchill: Saturday's Grade III Cardinal Handicap 100k

System Ratings for Churchill's Saturday Turf Stakes:

Callwood Dancer- 11
Kiss With A Twist- 11
Ballymore Lady- 9.5
Meribel- 9.5
Lady Dibgy- 9
Long Approach- 9
Indescribable- 9
Sousaphone- 8.5
Ciao- 5.5
Queendom- 4

There are seven horses that can win this race. When a race is this wide open on paper, you're going to get some good prices.

The two highest ratings belong to Callwood Dancer and Kiss With A Twist, with the rest of the field awfully close. Callwood Dancer ran a slow, yet noteworthy, second in the EP Taylor to Folk Opera. Kiss With A Twist comes off a win on the Poly at Keeneland. The daughter of Lemon Drop Kid seems to always be close.

Friday Pedigree Angles to Watch

Churchill Friday 11/14 Race 8 Maiden Special Weight 1 mile turf

South Fork Lodge is out of NetJet (zero winners from two starters), but NetJet is a 1/2 to G 1 Suburban Handicap winner Wekiva Springs ($1,512,575 career). The Runaway Groom colt will make his first career start.

Class Flirt is a gelded son of Pleasantly Perfect out of Flirtatious. If the dam sounds formiliar it is because she produced the recent track record-setting Wait A While. The aforementioned half-sister to Friday's first time starter has earned over $2 million in her brilliant (grass) career.

Pedigree Angles To Watch: Wednesday & Thursday

Aqueduct- Wednesday Race 6 2YO Maiden Special Weight 6 1/2 Furs

Submerge is out of Indy Glory, a full sister to millionare Stephen Got Even. Stephen Got Even produced 2005 BC Juvenile winner Stevie Wonderboy.

Submerge, making her third career start, shortens to 6 1/2 furs. Submerge is trained by John Kimmel and will be ridden by Edgar Prado.

Churchill- Thursday Race 6 2YO Maiden 1 1/16 miles turf

Million Seller is by A.P Indy and is out of Million Gift (JPN). Million Gift is a half sister to the brilliant Sky Beauty (15-for-21 career).

In Million Seller's debut on the Keeneland Polytrack she showed a promising late rally to finish second traveling 7/8ths. Trainer Graham Motion stretches her out and tries the grass. Julien Leparoux hops aboard.

Red Smith Handicap GII and Mrs. Revere Stakes G II

The System's Ratings of the nine entrants for Aqueduct's Saturday feature (Red Smith Handicap):
(Higher the number, the better)

Banrock- 6.25
Strike a Deal- 6
Summer Patriot- 5.6
Always First- 5.25
Lauro- 4.75
Wheels Up At Noon- 4.25
Interpatation- 4
Presious Passion- 3.5
Hard Top- 3.25

As you can see, there are no outliers in the 1 3/8 miles event. From top to bottom the race is fairly even. Even the horse with the lowest rating (Hard Top) is tricky in this spot. Making just his second start on this side of the pond, with a monster pedigree and intriguing connections.

The System's Ratings for Churchill's Saturday Feature (Mrs. Revere Stakes):

My Princess Jess- 8.5
Acoma- 7.5
Raw Silk- 5.25
My Baby Baby- 5
Clear Pond- 5
Scolara- 4.5
Golden Doc A- 3.5
Absolutely Cindy- 3.5
Seemingly- 3
Dark Sky- 3
Sky Mom- 1

My Princess Jess is a nice filly. She seems like she is in the right spot to close her 3-year-old campaign with a win. The main challenge jockey Eibar Coa will face is the outside 11 post.

The Ratings system is based on that particular horse COMING INTO THAT PARTICULAR RACE.

Thursday Angle Results

Soave ($5.60) was a pedigree angle to watch for Thursday's fourth. The daughter of Cozzekiki enjoyed the slop to win by a neck.

Grace's Valentine was another to watch but was wisely scratched when the race was taken off the grass.

Be sure to monitor Friday's pedigree angles to watch. Good Luck.

Keeneland November Sales

Many lucrative deals have taken place through the first few days of the Keeneland November sale. Far ranging products also. From a weanling from a recent horse of the year, to a week-old Breeders' Cup champion, to broodmare prospects.

A weanling filly by 2006 3-year-old Colt of the Year Bernardini sold for $1.475 million to Hill 'n' Dale. The family of the big seller goes way deeper than just her Darley homebred sire. The filly's dam, Teeming (Storm Cat) is a daughter of Better Than Honour.

Better Than Honour, sold for $14 million Nov 2. Better Than Honour is 2008's broodmare of the year, having produced Belmont Stakes winners Jazil (Seeking The Gold) and Rags To Riches (A.P Indy) along with 2008 Peter Pan winner Casino Drive (Mineshaft). Casino Drive would have been second choice to win this year's rendition of the Belmont but scratched.

Teeming has just one other offspring, a yearling by A.P Indy.

IEAH Stables picked up the brilliant filly Stardom Bound (Tapit) for $5.7 million apparently outbidding Frank Stronarch at the very end. Stardom Bound has never raced on traditional dirt, but her talent and appearance make that a non-factor. It is a topic of discussion because Rick Dutrow will be her knew trainer. Word is, Dutrow plans to bring her to Florida (no synthetics) before a 3-year-old campaign. Whether or not the goal is the Kentucky Oaks or the Derby, Stardom Bound is a top choice.

Notable Broodmare prospects that sold include; Lear's Princess, Panty Raid, Honey Ryder, Lady Joanne, and Hystericalady.

Breeders Cup in Review- Championship Saturday

MARATHON

JGP Selection: Church Service
Result: Winner, Muhannek. JGP's selection, Church Service($9.60 place) rallied late to finish second. Apparently 1 1/2 miles was not long enough for the son of Pulpit.

TURF SPRINT

JGP Selection: Diabolical
Result: Winner, Desert Code. JGP's selection, Diabolical ($7.60 place) gave 'The System' their second place in as many races. The 20.73 and 41.81 splits set up for the longshot ($75.00) winner's late run.

DIRT MILE

JGP Selection: Albertus Maximus
Results: Winner, Albertus Maximus($14.60). All right! After two seconds, JGP hit with the classy son of Albert The Great.

BC MILE

JGP Selection: Goldikova (BEST BET)
Results: Winner, Goldikova. When you specialize in turf handicapping, and your best bet is a turfer, on Breeders' Cup day, you better hit. This filly exposed the boys and was considered a steal while paying $5.60.

BC JUVENILE

JGP Selection: Midshipman
Results: Winner, Midshipman. JGP was in peak-form after the Juvenile, securing two straight doubles and a $108.00 pick three. The Unbridled's Song(producing stakes winners by the second) colt paid $9.20.

JUVENILE TURF

JGP Selection: Skipadate
Results: Winner, Donativum. Skipadate never got rolling. Perhaps the Saratoga to Woodbine to California route didnt suit the 2-year-old. Either way JGP got taken.

SPRINT

JGP Selection: Street Boss
Results: Winner, Midnight Lute. The winner was so good that it humbled everyone at 7.40. Baffert knows what he's doing but JGP threw that out the window. Can't miss Garrett Gomez, continues to roll. Street Boss finished third as the chalk.

TURF

JGP Selection: Soldier Of Fortune
Results: Winner, Conduit. You don't see JGP change expression all that much, but it was quite clear that the trip and ride of Soldier Of Fortune rubbed the handicapper wrong. The choice was up close to a hot 47 flat half mile in the 1 1/2 miles event. Conduit was nice and was JGP's second choice for trainer Sir Michael Stoute. Although, no prize for second without your first choice!

CLASSIC

JGP Selection: Henrythenavigator
Results: Winner, Raven's Pass. Henrthenavigator was flushed in the paddock and acting up in the holding barn. The 3-year-old still ran a big second at a nice price ($22.00 place). Remember, if horses are excelling at 1 mile in Europe, most will handle 1 1/4 miles in North America.

It was a profitable Friday for those who backed JGP. JGP had the winner in three of the five filly Friday races. Stardom Bound, Forever Together and Zenyatta gave JGP the late pick three and late double.

JGP followers also would have pulled a straight triple in the Lady's Classic.

JGP had the eventual winner in his triple in five of the six races in Friday's Breeders' Cup.
